In YOGAH community classes we offer an approach to practice which can be adapted to a variety of needs. In the words of T. Krishnamacharya, founder of our tradition, "If one can breath, one can do yoga". As we move through yoga postures with care and attention, it is the breath that guides us. This practice gives the benefits of flexibility, strength and balance but also works on a deeper level to cultivate deep relaxation, steady focus and inner peace.
We teach in the Viniyoga tradition. Found in important texts, "viniyoga" suggests appropriate application. In our teaching, classical yoga is adapted to suit the needs of each individual through group and also private classes. Drawing on yogic techniques such as asana (postures), pranayama (breathing), chanting, meditation and the study of texts, we help students in their quest for renewed energy, self awareness and transformation.
